The war in Vietnam was gaining in about the same intensity as my itch to return to
military service.  When I learned that I could attend Army pilot training without first
getting a degree, that did it!  I signed up with a guarantee of flight school, and went to
Fort Polk, LA, for Army basic training in late 1965.  Then off to primary flight training
at Ft. Wolters, Texas.  After that, it was on to Ft. Rucker, Alabama for advanced
training.  Received my wings in November 1966.
Finally made it to Ft. Rucker, Alabama!
All of that training finally led to graduation and subsequent assignment to Company B,
229th Aviation Battalion, First Cavalry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam.
